Is the West’s “view” the “best” view?

Whether killing people of faith, torturing prisoners, bombing the wrong “enemies,” or exporting American secularism, our country’s missteps are legion and legend among the world’s peoples. And these same blunders are coming home to roost in our own country.

Jihad Johnny is but one example of Americans who are fed up with the status quo. And though “Johnny” deserves no mercy, why does our country still support our sworn enemies?

Saudi Arabia’s line of succession is shaping up to be a nightmare for America, because one of the potential heirs to the throne  is a radical Wahhabist–the same brand of Islamofascism Bin Laden subscribes to. So what happens to the oil flow if he becomes the king? Do we nuke Mecca if he shuts off the oil? Riyadh? 

Meantime, back in Bosnia, a conduit for the Islamofascist drug trade flowing from Muslim Kosovo (a drug trade that paid for terrorist acts against America in the 21st Century), Clinton’s objectives still have not been met, and now his wife is going to be America’s Secretary of State. Though “hawkish” compared to Obama, she’s just as secular and naive as her husband, and she will further alienate those we should be building bridges with, instead of sucking up to Arab oil producers.

In this vein, Frank Schaeffer made a number of valid points in his August 2008 essay titled Why Russia Invaded Georgia. Though posted on the blog of one of my least favorite individuals (Huffington), truth is still truth. Besides underscoring the stark difference in world views between East and West, the essay also deals with the Russia “issue” that is on nearly every front page of American newspapers, blogs, and mainstream media outlets.

To say that every American administration since Reagan has screwed-up on the international scene would be a gross understatement, and now both Bush and Obama are screwing-up on the home front. Americans are fed up. The Islamic world is fed up. The Russians are fed up. The South Americans are fed up. And now even our Anglo-Saxon island-bound buddies are pulling out of Iraq next year. Gee, do we just take our ball and go home? We can hardly afford to do so, but we do have to change our approach.

America is steeped in a perennial state of naivete, arrogance, and lack of history. How can we begin to be a cohesive country and world leader if we cannot remember our own constitutional history, let alone the history of the people around us? As our global domination begins to ebb, just what do our leaders think Americans will want to do on the world stage when they’re unemployed on the home front, raped by ruthless politicians, bankers, judges, and activists, and fear their own government?

The real issue is what credibility will we have as an “equal” with China and Russia, if we continue to blunder along? What resolve can America’s leaders expect from the citizenry, when the citizenry is fed-up and fearful? Or, in a worst-case scenario, ready to invoke the Jeffersonian Solution to America’s reprobate, amoral, and sociopathic leaders who see nothing wrong with mortgaging the future of the average American’s children?

America is at a crossroads, and the secular-protestant “western viewpoint” is no longer valid. It’s time to look for new answers that America’s secularists and a “feel good” Protestant clergy just do not have.
