It is becoming more apparent that Americans are upset with the plan to bail out high-flying speculators, corrupt government entities, and the politicians responsible for the debacle.
Despite an early morning speech by the president yesterday morning and his remarks the previous day, the House of Representatives voted down the alleged “bi-partisan” Mother of all Bailouts, which is indicative of constituency input over the weekend. In other words, Pelosi did not deliver and the Republicans are not supporting the president.
In speaking with a group of public utility staffers, a trip to GITMO, water boarding, and drowning were all mentioned as potential punishments for congressmen and women! The frustration of average “Joes” is obvious. And it’s a frustration that runs deep, as evidenced by the latest polls concerning how Americans view the job congress is doing.
Throw in the “politics as usual” dimension, and you have an electorate that is ready to shake things up a bit come this November. Besides the “Joes” at the public utility, pastors are upset as well, and some of them are willing to forego their tax-exempt status. And let’s not forget what some economists are saying.
It would appear that the days of congress and their business cronies pimping the US taxpayer may be coming to an abrupt end. One can only hope this is truly the situation in America and one can only hope that the reason is the deep-seated desire to protect our children.
Unfortunately, no matter what the final decision is by our “representatives,” Ron Paul has it right.
